In the music industry, artists are constantly being compared with one another in the name of deciding who is the best and who isn’t yet. So, the moments where we see artists uplifting each other are moments that should be highlighted.
Monday afternoon, Seandrea Sledge, who passed by Stage name is Dreezy, She posted a series of tweets praising rappers. The rapper, singer-songwriter first started tweeting with the phrase “Tweet the rapper’s lyrical appreciation”. She continued and wrote “just cus the ppl sleep” – apparently citing why she was posting the tweets.
In the first tweet, Dreezy lists the following artists: Rapsody, Chika, Lady London, Omeretta, Tierra Whack, No Name, Young MA and Snow Tha Product. She also includes her own name “Dreezy” at the end of that first list and encourages readers to “add to the list” for “Putting Someone Up Today”.
In a follow-up tweet, Drizy explained how she picked the names on the list.
“There are a lot of other girls out there, I just bring up the list of people who are not in the mainstream,” she wrote.
Dreezy then followed up on the list in a second tweet that was posted just over 30 minutes after the first. CupcaKKe, Lakeyah, BIA, Tokyo Jetz and Melii added.
A few of the aforementioned artists took to their Twitter accounts to respond to Dreezy.
Rapper Lycia responded by quoting Dreese’s tweet on her name.
They say real rap is dying? Lycia said along with the up arrow and the emoji at 100%.
Tierra Whack took Dreezy’s advice on his first tweet and added it to the list with a quoted tweet. Tierra’s roster included: Rocky, Chains, Joey Kathus, Brie Steves, Jade, Chinna, Lena L, Fresh Princess, Lee Mazen, T Mary, and LG.
Snow Tha Dreezy producer thanked the reference and complimented it with “u the sh * t.”
